Job Description Project Manager / Estimator
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the managing of their respective customer account through proper management of schedule, timely response to customers questions and concerns, effectively communication of issues, and cost management of projects. A minimum of 3-5 years experience in road construction is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to potential sites to evaluate existing conditions and meet with site owners and/or owner's representatives.
- Conduct sales and marketing initiatives such as property visits, cold calling and e-mail marketing to generate project sales.
- Prepare bid proposals either through onsite measurement or electronic takeoff from project drawings and plans
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with owners, managers and subcontractors.
- Track and adjust quantities through all phases of each project.
- Generate various reports required by immediate supervisor.
- Participate and organize key association events to maintain and improve company presence to our customers
- Initiate and maintain liaison with customer to facilitate construction activities.
- Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Represent company in project meetings and assist in scheduling between the crew and customer
- Manage financial aspects of contracts (invoicing, purchase orders, change orders, pay applications etc) to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years' experience in a project management or project controls capacity within the roadway construction industry
- Experienced with Microsoft Suite applications especially Excel
- Preferred but not required experience with E-takeoff or Adobe Pro or other takeoff software, Computer Ease (CE), Photoshop Elements
- Knowledge of local Austin and San Antonio markets preferred
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field OR equivalent in training and experience.

- Strong negotiation skills and ability to work with suppliers.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
- Ability to deal with the public in a pleasant, courteous, and calm manner in all circumstances.
- Ability to work under pressure and be multi-task oriented.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities.
- Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
